Schools Support Staff Bulletin – 10 November 2015

Good afternoon to all school support staff, Now is not the time to give up!!!

Yesterday I was out of the office, meeting with members in schools and also having conversations with members who called me at the office and it is very clear that our School Support members will not be giving up their resistance to DCC’s damaging proposals to cut our pay.

Feedback from the two schools I visited is that members would be happy to continue to take part in demonstrations outside the Council House so, in response to this we are proposing a further official UNISON demonstration, outside the Council House on Wednesday 25 November 2015.

THIS will coincide with a meeting of the Full Council which will take place at 6pm and we ask that each school nominates two members to occupy the Public Gallery for this meeting.

We are able to submit questions for the meeting and will ask that these be included on the agenda. Please feel free to email suggested questions and I will see how many we are able to include. Email to:  Suzanne.bonser@derby.gov.uk

In the meantime I would ask that each and every one of you write or email your ward councillor, irrespective of party and tell them the impact of these proposals on you personally in terms of financial loss and also the stress that is being caused to you.

We must keep up the pressure on our elected representatives.

Together we are stronger!

Finally, the branch will be meeting with both the Employer and UNISON’s Legal Team and Head of Local Government, over the next week and we hope to have further information to share following these meetings. As soon as DCC share information with us regarding the Appeals Process and the implementation date we will share this with you, our members.

Dear Colleague

With regards to members who have also been severly hit by the pay review outside schools and have previously issued an appeal and attended UNISON meeting

Will there be a follow up on the ? new appeals process to assist in individual greivances

I would appreciate any support as this is my second substantial cut at a time when I have been for a couple of years working above my JIQ duties and responsibilities and my line manager left via VR March 15 and that level of work as been formally placed on me , my JIQ is substantial out of date

Hi Syd, thank you for your comments I have passed this information to Nicole Berrisford – Branch Secretary, please can you send your contact details to Nicole.Berrisford@derby.gov.uk who will be able to advise you.
we will be supporting all our members who have lodged appeals and we will do some follow up meetings.
Kind Regards
Rich
