UNISON Derby City Schools Team Need YOU!

Demo 25 Nov 2015Public Gallery/Council Meeting

Remember “we need you” for the demo tomorrow.  They have been successful so far and “we are stronger together”.  Join us again outside the Council House at 5.00pm and then from 5.45pm, two people from each school will be allowed into the public gallery to observe proceedings and we would like these people to take notice of the following:

  • Behave professionally
  • No heckling
  • Recognise it’s a public meeting
  • Speech to be made (for 5 minutes) regarding the petition (OK to clap after).
  • Dignity At All Times

Everybody had the opportunity to raise questions, if you wish there will be chances at future meetings.

Derby City Council Update – 18 November 2015

WE WON’T PLAY GAMES WITH YOUR PAY OR YOUR JOB!

The true picture of the single status exercise in Derby City can be summed up in the following points:

UNISON members will of course have a say but we can’t ballot people on an offer, which may pose legal risks to the union if we sign up to it.

  1. We believe the single status exercise may give rise to new equal pay claims in addition to existing and historical equal pay claims.
  2. UNISON believes the job evaluation process was flawed because job information was not accurate and in some cases not agreed with jobholders.
  3. It is not UNISON that has dragged its feet. The Council has spent 10 years implementing job evaluation. It has not used the scheme recommended by the National Joint Council.
  4. These are difficult and uncertain times.  We urge you to keep calm and do the right thing.

We are committed to getting the best deal for our members both in the Council and in schools.  We are there for you, so please get in touch if you have any questions.
