Labour Social Housing Review

The Labour Party has launched a Review of Social Housing and is seeking views from the sector on how to shape it.

The Review, first announced by the Leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, at last year’s party conference, promised to bring forward “a radical programme of action”.

The call for evidence notes that the number of new social rented homes has fallen to a record low, council homes have been sold off without being replaced and houses are being built at a slower rate than one decade ago.

The review talks of a new deal to make housing “genuinely affordable, safe, secure and decent and to give tenants more control over decisions about their homes”.

There are 18 questions categorised under five broad topics on the policy context, the definition of affordable housing, levels of building, the standard of social housing and tenants/resident involvement in social housing.
