UNISON LGBT Conference 2017 – Update Two

Now discussions are continuing into the “International” section of the Annual report firstly the motion to be discussed is Our place on the global stage post-brexit this was carried and now Palastine: 50 years of occupation, 10 years of siege. more information can be found here…

 

 

 

 

 

An important motion was discussed about Persecution in Chechnya and the horrible accounts of LGBT people in the country and the suffering they are currently experienced, this has been extensively reported within the below report and video.

the final motion In this section to be discussed was Securing LGBT rights on ILO Agenda. all these motions were passed.

Now we hear from the second guest speaker Lord Collins of Highbury, opposition spokesperson for DFID (Department for International Development)  and Foreign Affairs. Lord Collins explains issues affecting LGBT People worldwide and what is being done to tackle discrimination towards LGBT people now and in the future.

Campaigning is the next section of the Agenda is being introduced and the first motion to be discussed is Progression not regression on LGBT equality, then Mental health matters  was next to be discussed.
