Today UNISON locally met with our internal legal team, national officers and equal pay Solicitor from Thompsons. This meeting was to continue the investigations into the equal pay claim at Derby City Council. There are a number of pieces of information that the legal team require, despite UNISONS best efforts DCC has refused to share this pertinent data for the purposes of the collective negotiations. Put simply, we require certain information to best represent you, which your employer will not give us. Therefore, please find below a member survey. We would encourage as many of you as possible to complete this and return it to us Either by the online form below or here or by using the pdf document.

It’s All About You

UNISON is committed to communicating our efforts with our members. As a member of UNISON any legal recourse which we are able to pursue will only be for UNISON members. Can I ask you to let your work colleague know about the union’s actions especially if they are not members of this union. On this occasion UNISON is prepared to allow people to join and to be part of this action so that we can maximise the results for us all. I hope that you and the people you work with will take advantage of this opportunity to join.

UNISON are equally committed to listening to our members views, which is why we have set up 6 member led meetings over the next 5 weeks, please look out for further information.

We encourage you and your colleagues to attend as an opportunity to find out what your local UNISON team are doing and answer any questions you may have. Your employer is aware that these consultation meetings are being
held and should be supporting your attendance.

Cuts

Derby City Council have announced that they will be making staggering budget cuts of 45 million over the next 3 years. The council has said it will axe a further 90 full time equivalent jobs on top of 110 already announced in the first year (2016). UNISON is concerns of the impact these will have on the public, community and our member’s ability to earn. UNISON will be fully supporting our members to try and save jobs.

We will be communicating separately on this matter in the coming weeks…
