AGM 2024 – Agenda and Documents

Please find below documents for this years AGM on Friday 23 February 2024.

at Derby Conference Centre, London Road, DE24 8UX 
Arrival and Bar open  from 6pm
The AGM will start at 6.30pm and will finish at 7.30pm and be followed by a 2 course Indian Hot Buffet, then a live band and Disco. The Bar will be open till 1am

UNISON National Delegate Conference 2023 – Morning Session – Day 2

We start with a welcome back from President Andrea Egan and she announced that £1600 has been raised from the NDC quiz social last night which will go to the There for You Charity,

A minutes silence was then observed for the six year’s anniversary of the Grenfell Tower Tragedy 

We start with the moving of Standing Orders Committee Report 3 – there were reference back requests made and these will be returned at a further update surrounding item 3 regarding emergency motion Transpennine Express: the operator of Last Resort should be the only operator and Columbia in crisis and also item 4. 

We now move onto the discussion of motions and we start with Composite A – Social Care Crisis – The Urgent Need for Reform and Investment – this Motion was carried

Motion 28 – A Vision for a National Care Service – this motion was carried as amended 28.1 

Motion 27 – Radical Change in Social Care in Wales Can Influence the Whole of the UK – this motion was carried as amended 27.1

We now watch a short video documenting all of the action and activities branches have been involved in over the past year

We then receive a speech from Christina McAnea UNISON General Secretary, Christina went through issues Local Government Pay Ballot, Strike issues, action wins across the country and the real impact.

Christina drew attention to the following issues during her speech, UNISON National care service roadmap that has just been launched

The Year Of the Black Worker

Disability Employment Charter

NJC Pay Campaign

Christina receives a standing ovation following her speech.

UNISON Local Government Service Group Conference 2023 – Afternoon Final Session – Day 2

We now return to conference and we hear a speech from Mehmet Bozgeyik, Co-President , The confederation of Public Employees’ Trade Unions (KESK), Turkey you can find out more about this Confederation below on their international Twitter account.

we now move on to the motion discussions of Social Care and the first is Motion 40 – Care Workers – this motion was carried

We now discuss Motion 42 Council Provided Care – this motion was carried as amended 42.1

motion 43 – Caring for our Carers – this motion was carried

Motion 41 – Adult Social Care – this motion was carried

We now move onto the discussions of the motions around Recruitment and Organising, the first is Motion 38 – Improving Facility time for Local Government activists – This motion was carried

Motion 39 – Empowering our reps in the fight against outsourcing – this motion was carried – this motion was carried

Now the order of business has been completed we now move to the moving of motions that were previously prioritised but not moved yet.

Motion 24 – Building trans equality in local government – this motion was carried

Also mentioned is that today marks the Anniversary of shootings of the shootings in pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

Motion 27 – Fighting cuts to local services and protecting disabled workers jobs – this motion was carried

The 12 motions not moved at this conference will be passed back to the Local Government Service Group Executive to be moved and report its decisions in due course.
